The service is excellent, the atmosphere is just right, the menu has variety, and the food is great. If that was all, this would be a five star review. However, the prices are quite high and the portions of food are not exactly matching those prices, although the quality certainly does. The age group present at the restaurant was almost entirely the elderly, with three middle aged couples. For someone who is a young adult like me, you may feel somewhat out of place.

Enjoyed the Crab meat ravioli in lobster bisque sauce! Definitely recommend I went at night, we sat inside. Scenery was cozy & dark, serves are nice & punctual.

Delicious food! I had the pesto with fettuc. made on-site. Outragous! The shrimp was chopped up into it. My friend had the handmade ravioli- with pears and gorgonzola. The calamari was tender and the tomato sauce was delish. It was spicy which was unique for an italian restaurant! Loved it. Nice atmosphere as well.

I love this place. The Garganelli is super delicious and I personally think it's the best on the menu. When I asked my husband what his favorite is he said "everything". So far, the best Italian I've had in Miami.

We are regulars at this amazing Trattoria. I can speak for almost every item in the menu. Everything is always fresh and tastes authentic Italian. All servers are friendly and willing to help you choose your meal. Must have appetizers: burrata, fritto di calamari e zucchini and involtini di melanzane. Must have pastas: garganelli ai gamberi e porri, tagliatelle al ragú, spaghetti casa mía, linguine Nere con aragosta (it's a special, they have it sometimes, call before). Desserts: You can't leave without trying the profiteroles and/or tiramisu (profiteroles are filled with ice cream, not cream, sorry cream lovers). Note that even with reservations they could make you wait 10 minutes or so at peak hours. The wait is worth!!! Hope this helps.

Just see this place and decided to come in, very nice service and very good lasagna the best I try, prices are reasonable and seating is nice :) will be back

Kind of disappointing - I had high expectations with the previous reviews. The food was good and service was good but there was nothing extra or unique. It was visually bland, basic and boring. I had the burrata and it was served over thin slices of tomatoes. We also had the lasagna and it was not very cheesy. Very meaty and good but I like it with more cheese.

This is a great place to get some authentic Italian food. I love pasta, and there are plenty of delicious pasta plates to chose from, along with other dishes such as meats and seafood. Two of my favorites being the farfalle al pesto and the lasagna. They give fresh dinner rolls while you wait for your dish. Orders take a bit to come out, but you'll understand why once the first bite hits those tastebuds. You can clearly taste the freshness with every bite. One thing about this restaurant that truely sticks out are the workers. The owner is always there walking around to make sure everything is in order and all customers have what he or she needs. The waiters are very attentive, always refilling your drink without constantly asking, and just making sure the customer is satisfied. Aside from the great food and service, the atmosphere is very small and intimate. Although the tables are somewhat close, I have never had a problem with other guests being too loud. They have a great outdoor patio that is pet friendly as well. Overall, this is a great place that doesn't get nearly enough recognition. The food and service is amazing... What more could you possibly ask for?!

I thought this place was excellent - Italian food prepared by real Italians in a small but nicely decorated (and potentially romantic) restaurant in N. Miami. My sister and i both felt like having Spagetti with Meat sauce and settled for a Penne (mind you not very daring but it was GREAT). If i lived closer to this place I would go there more often for sure. GO THERE you won't be disappointed.

Casa Mia is a very charming Italian restaurant, with great service, reasonable prices, indoor and outdoor seating and free parking in the strip mall. it is located between Bal Harbour and North Miami Beach on the 96th/123rd street causeway. we had the seafood pasta, the gnocchi and ravioli, all very good. this small charming restaurant is a winner.

Had dinner there and the food was amazing. I got the pasta bolognaise and my husband got the Mahi Mahi. We both loved our dishes. The staff was super nice, very prompt, great service! The owner makes you feel like your family when you arrive. Such a cozy and beautiful place to have a fantastic meal. The pasta was prepared perfectly! OH! And the delicious Biscotti....order coffee after dinner so you can dunk your Biscotti in it! Perfect way to end the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant! If you want great service, great selection, great food...This has to be on your list!

I love coming here! The food is great and the atmosphere is very chill and relaxed. Never really any complaints. The owner and workers are always very nice and polite. Dog friendly for the patio outside so its nice to let my little man actually get out the house and smell the sweet air. Good place for family, romantic dates, or just friends.

For the past years I've been passing this place while driving always been curious to try it and finally today I decided to stray away from my usual Chinese duck Fridays. The service was great, given that we were the only table in the whole restaurant. Kudos to what seems like the runner for actually checking if we had all utensils before they served our food. Great small details. We had the anti pasti Italiano, came out a promptly and was great. For the entrees we had the shrimp with fettucini with an artichoke and dried tomatoes sauce which was so tasty, we also had the fettucini carbonara which I was not impressed by at all. It was missing seasoning and the noodles were over cooked. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was delicious!!!! Over all, I really enjoyed the experience. It was great to start seeing the regulars come in once we were leaving and seeing everyone greet each other as if they were all family. Very traditional Italian, place is meant for traditional loving foodies. I would stay away from the fettucini pastas or I would ask for it be cooked perfectly aldente. But if you live in Sans Souci and want to go to your good neighbor restaurant this is definitely the place to go. Like I said before, I enjoyed the whole experience overall. Worth the try.

This place appears to be popular with the "silver" crowd. Don't let that scare you away. It's not a hipster kind of place. Service was outstanding yet unintrusive. We had the calamari which was tender and flavorful with a light dusting of batter. The marinara sauce on the side was perfect. This is a traditional type of Italian joint. The Chef's specials included a few different takes on some classics including a nice bronzino entree that was excellent. We will surely visit again.

Thought this place was good in the past. Had a 6 person party tonight and took food over an hour and a half to come. Once it all came it was disappointing to say the least.

Went for lunch and order a side ceasar salad and a pasta with pink sauce. Salad was crunchy and good, pasta was simple and small for $15. Flavor was very good and the service good. My husband order the crab ravioli and that was delicious.

Went here with my sister for a little birthday dinner. The place itself was very quaint, I enjoyed the atmosphere. I ordered one of the chefs specials (gnocci), and it was phenomenal. My sister had the ravioli, and she said it was delightful as well. Fresh rolls were served immediately after we sat down. Service was above reproach! They were friendly, attentive, and humorous at times. I will be back again :)

I can't even understand how people have rated this a good restaurant. The food was not good, the staff rushed us throughout our entire meal, and the owner was very arrogant. Casa Mia? I truly don't think the owner understands the meaning of this word; this is not how I felt while I was there....I will never go back there again.

Two friends have separately recommended this restaurant. We tried it tonight. Great neighborhood place -- small and quiet, with seating inside and out. Delicious! Wines are not expensive and the list is sufficiently broad from which to choose. We both chose chicken - mine with sliced Italian sausages, onions and Portobello in a light tomato sauce, and his with artichokes, roasted peppers in a port wine and demiglace sauce, both served with roasted potatoes and broccoli. We added an antipasto as a starter and a side of roasted peppers with anchovies. We finished off our meal with an Italian cheesecake...my husband's choice, not mine. Service was great: attentive, responsive and quick. The price was more than fair. We'll definitely go back.

It's a small, cozy spot tucked into the dozens of shops on 123rd St. If the location was better or there was a little more ambience it would get 5 stars. We were a table of four with a reservation but still had to wait 20 min. They have indoor and outdoor seating. If it's a cool night it's ok, but there's no scenery outside, except the parking lot and street. To start I had the stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat on top of spinach. It was supposed to have lobster bisque sauce which is probably fabulous but not on my diet. The others had a Cesar salad, a soup and the burratta mozzarella. For entree I had the shrimp grilled with veggies. 'the others had a pasta dish and the fresh trout. We skipped dessert but the girls had coffee and tea. It's not super expensive and the portions were decent. The service is attentive and everything was pleasant.

Mangia! Mangia! Mangia! Italian owner who makes great Italian food. We found this restaurant on yelp and after seeing the reviews we trailed over. It was lunch time and my daughter wanted pasta. Such a cute restaurant, clean, quaint, colorful with some nice pictures on the wall, Italian music playing, excellent service. We started with Calamari and zucchini, lightly battered, cooked perfectly, and the marinara sauce was very good, not sweet, yay! A couple of glasses of house Chianti, oh yes good afternoon. Main lunch entrees I chose penne bolognese, daughter had shrimp and fettuccine, and hubby had spaghetti bolognese. All of our dishes were excellent. Pasta cooked al dente, sauce and meat were good, portion sizes fairly large. For lunch I thought their prices were a tad high but they also have salads and pannini's at a more reasonable price. A few tables outside, small inside but very comfortable and has such a Tuscan feel to it. Service was impeccable and the owner works the floor, he was very friendly. Check this place out, really cool Italian restaurant that I can not wait to go back and try for dinner. Off the beaten path but easy to find.... Ciao for now!

I used to live in the neighborhood and this was always my go-to spot whenever I was craving Italiano!! Friendly staff and gtreat food is what keeps me coming back. You must try their ravioli specials!

Wonderful little neighborhood Italian cafe. I had the graganellli pasta, which was very rich...sinfully delicious. The lobster bisque sauce is very flavorful and generous. My husband had the crab ravioli. The crab was sweet and fresh. The crab ravioli had lots of crab; the little pasta pillows were very full. We started with the mixed meat and cheese plate; not sure if I would order again, but as advertised, lots of meat and cheeses. I wish there was a little more variety of cheeses. The service was attentive and at times a overly attentive. Overall, recommended if you are the in the area. We'll be going back.

I ate there last night with family to celebrate a birthday. It was my first time there, but it won't be my last! The food was simply perfect and outstanding and the service was stellar! I ordered the pistachio crusted salmon and it was absolutely delicious! The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. I tasted everyone else's dishes too (pasta) and I couldn't decide which dish was better. Did I mention that the service was awesome? Well it was! Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and super efficient along with the other staff in the restaurant that also attended to our needs. It could not have been more perfect. I wish I could eat there every single day. There are so many things on the menu that I want to try. This is my new go to place for sure! Get there as soon as you can! You will not regret it! This just became my favorite restaurant!!!

Food was very bland. I ordered lasagna and then got seafood dish, both were so bland and I sent it back. One was discounted, but no one or manager cared about our experience. We will not be back. This pk ace is very disappointing and overpriced. Sad.

  • Nato S.

So good! The service is excellent - everyone was very friendly. Fried calamari was tasty and the sauce it was served with was delicious, not your average marinara sauce. The Fagottini pasta was amazing, I can't even describe how good it is... it's a little pasta pillow with a pear slice inside covered in white vodka sauce that is out of this world tasty. Found my new favorite pasta dish! Will definitely be returning here. The ambiance is nice, no cheesy decorations - very intimate and cozy. My one and only complaint is that they charge for individual soda, no refills. That's fine, but it would be nice to at least get a heads up. Other than that, the price to portion ratio is right on point. Not to mention YUMMY!

Went for Easter dinner to Casa Mia (my second visit to this establishment and still extremely satisfied). Staff is attentive, professional, prompt to your needs/ requests. The owners personalized service makes you feel like as if you are a regular/returning customer. You feel at home. Great proportions and good flavor. Nice variety and options for all. We ordered the lasagna, the spinach ravioli, wheat pasta with vegetables and pasta with scallops and pears. Delish! Decent selection of wine. I definitely recommend this restaurant and would not hesitate in coming back.

Amazing intimate Italian restaurant, perfect for dates or special occasions. I recommend making a reservation on weekend nights, as the small space fills quickly and there is little room for waiting. If you are willing to brave the windy Miami weather, there are a few tables outside available that are usually not as crowded. If you order nothing else, you must order the calamari appetizer and the tiramisu for dessert. Both are incredibly fresh and made in-house. Prices are reasonable, but not cheap. Expect to end up with a bill of at least $70-80 for two without drinks. Another noteworthy menu item is the lasagna bolognese, topped with crispy breadcrumbs and artfully prepared in layers of spicy beef and ricotta cheese. Unlike the "American" counterparts, do not expect a greasy mess of cheese. There is a hint of cheese, crispy al dente noodles and sumptuous portions of sauce and meat. Exactly how I like it - and a large enough portion to bring home half for lunch the next day. I also love that the owners appear to be very involved in the business and seem to care very much about their patrons. We were treated royally throughout the entire visit. Absolutely a hidden gem that we wouldn't have found without the help of Yelp.

It goes without saying that attentive service can play a big role on judging a dining experience, and Casa Mia Trattoria certainly delivers in that category. Unfortunately, the overall taste of our entrees didn't match the quality of the service. The good: The wait staff was very welcoming and made us feel as if we were regulars. To start we had the carpaccio appetizer. It's garnished with shaved Parmesan cheese and lettuce with olive oil and a lemon wedge. The meat was sliced thin and was so fresh it practically melted on my tongue. If you'd like to skip the appetizer, no worries since they bring out complimentary bread rolls. The not so good: For our main dishes I had the Garganelli pasta with shrimp. The flavors of the sauce was mild and although the portions were big, the dish seemed to be lacking that "Mmm" factor. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna and was really disappointed with it making the comment that it tasted like Chef Boyardee (apologies to you Boyardee fans). Thinking he may be over exaggerating a bit, I took a bite and was surprised at how right he was. For the amount paid for their lasagna I'm sure we could have had 7-8 meals of the canned stuff. Although the food was eh, the service was really incredible and I'd be willing to go back and try something else on the menu. (2.5 stars)

Never disappoints! Last week i ordered my usual *garganelli pasta (heavy on the sauce), *fried calamari, *minestrone soup, *tiramisu Even the takeout is gOod. My god this place can never, ever, ever do any wrong. I eat her as much as i can because it so amazing! Its a hidden jewel. I strongly recommend it. Once you try it your going to be hooked! Promise!

I had driven by this place several times but was never interested in stopping in. Last night was the night we decided to give Casa Mia. We are so glad we did! The service is impeccable. The staff at Casa Mia is friendly, and they make you feel at home the minute you walk in through their doors. As soon as you sit down they bring you a basket of delicious freshly baked bread. The menu is full of great traditional Italian dishes. The staff is very accommodating at making all the dishes at your request. I had angel hair pasta aioli with grilled chicken. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Al dente and very tasty. The chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful. For dessert we has the tiramisu. A+! If you are in the area, and even if you are not, make sure you visit Casa Mia! You will not be disappointed! My only regret is that I wished I had visited them sooner!

Had a lovely dinner at this Italian restaurant. We were seated promptly and the staff immediately brought us bread and water. We started our dinner with an Antipasto appetizer (salame, prosciutto, olives, mozzarella, peppers, cheese). Very tasty. We ordered a bottle of Ripasso wine which was delicious! For dinner we had the home-made tagliatelle al Ragu (red meat sauce) and the pasta dumplings filled with pear and gorgonzola in a white sauce (forgot the name) which were DIVINE!!! We ended our dinner with the home-made Tiramisu which again was DELICIOUS... When I say "home-made" i specifically asked if they were made on premise, which the owner Paolo (from Italy!) assured me they were. I was very happy to see the owner walking around the tables and asking how the experience was. Everything was perfect... The staff, the food, the atmosphere... I would definitely be back and recommend.

We tried this restaurant last month..the food here is 'good', but not spectacular. It is solid italian cuisine. I am slightly confused by all the 4-5 star reviews. I may have to give it another try, but our initial impression is a B-

Fantastic Italian restaurant. Took my fiancee for dinner and she loved it. The pasta garganelli special was great. The wine, a super Tuscan, was very good as well. Very good attention to detail and the owner was very nice. Will be back.

Casa Mia serves the best Italian food in the North Miami area. My husband and I love going there - it is a great place for super fresh and very delicious food. My favorites are the Veal Scallopini Carciofi, insalata tricolore, apple tart with ice cream. The staff is so nice and efficient and everyone is very welcoming. They also make great homemade biscotti on premises which they serve for dessert and you can purchase a box as well - it makes a great hostess gift!

I saw the reviews on this restaurant and finally went for dinner. The overall experience was outstanding. The food was as good as any Italian restaurant I have visited - at any price. I had the pasta with calamari and it was outrageously flavorful. The owner takes a personal interest in the guests and everyone is made to feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is attentive and helpful. It is the perfect neighborhood eatery.

Yet another Miami area restaurant I would not have gone to if it had not been recommended, mostly due to the less than desirable location. Regardless... It was busy enough and the food was fabulous. I can say this is the ONLY Italian restaurant I have ever been to where the pasta was perfectly cooked al dente. I had the Spaghetti Integarle which was very good, with nicely cooked vegetables. The bread rolls were also very good and service was flawless. There were five people in our party and we all left full and happy.

I like the place the owner is very nice and welcome us as family. The food was delicious we order the risotto (it was for a special of the day) and my husband ordered ravioli a Bolognese I love it, my mom order the panini but I don't like it because it came on French bread instead the Italian panini one,for dessert we had profiteroles it was good! We live far from the restaurant but I'm shore when we be close by we will go again

Oh My God! Wow! Sooooo delicious! The staff and attention given at this place are outstanding! Someone else's review mentions how fast they deliver the bread to your table and I have to say, I too noticed that! Everything was wonderful! I had the bow tie paste with shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus in pink sauce, I think I'm in love! My date had thelasagna and he said and I quote "that's the best thing I have ever tasted" this may be an exaggeration BUT please believe me when I say it is now one of my new favorite restaurants! You need to try it!!!!

Having dinner at Casa Mia Trattoria is like having your own little hideaway where everyone knows you by name. Paolo, the owner, is the best! We have been patrons since he opened this restaurant. It is small, intimate, friendly. The food is nothing short of fantastic. And, if you have a taste for something not on the menu or have special needs, you do not need to worry - just ask and it's done! The staff is attentive and friendly. Honestly, it does not get any better than this!

Great service, decent portions (but could be a smudge larger for the price), great menu options, very non-Olive-Garden-like. A lot of senior citizens like to frequent this place. Not sure why, but I found that where good Italian food is, that's where they go. So, I follow. I tried their clam linguine in white wine sauce and I got to try the ravioli in lobster sauce. Both were really well-made. I love my pasta al dente, which is how it was at this restaurant. Perfect. They offer free bread before your meal and it's nice and toasty. They don't overcomplicate their menu, which is great. That allows them to focus on making what they do have awesome. My water was refilled frequently (which is a big thing for me) and the waiter was great at making recommendations. Decent wine menu and nice ambiance. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and I'm definitely coming back to try the bolognese!

The food and service was amazing!!! I had the lasanga with bolagnese sauce.... AMAZING!!!! My mom had the skirt steak it was incredible!! The chicken my aunt had was impeccable too! I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable experience with genuine food that tasted delicious and completely satisfied my palette with impeccable service that was prompt and warm. For an appetizer, we shared eggplant, and it was the best prepared eggplant i've ever head. For my main dish, I tried the bowtie pasta with shrimp, mushroom, asparagus with a pink sauce, talk about mouth watering and full or flavor. Definitely a success. I will definitely be back with my boyfriend, and then again with our friends. We did dinner this time, but I could have this food for any meal. I highly recommend this cozy Italian restaurant.

A special find in North Miami! The neighborhood is lucky to have them. Service is personal and proper - doesn't get much better in my opinion. The food always prepared to order and served immediately - pasta fagioli is like satin - veal dishes (my usual) is always good (the way scalapini is supposed to be tender with great silky smooth sauces) - my wifes regular - lasagna with ground pork and veal is really special! We work in the area and treasure the days we can slip away for an outstanding meal!

An unexpected find. Situated near a strip mall with a modest exterior, this little haven of a restaurant lures you in with cozy, elegant settings, warm lights and hearty laughs. The smell of vodka sauce was intoxicating. I had dinner with with two long-time friends here, and by 9:30PM it was still packed, a testament to its popularity. The foods were simple, honest, delicious only the way fresh ingredients can taste, an attribute rarely found today. No gimmicks or hypes, just really good food served by really nice people. Then there comes a realization that this is one of the most enjoyable experiences in many days, one to savor slowly. Highly recommended.

It's easy to overlook this little place, but that would be a shame. I've eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. It's a cozy place with a simple, authentic menu and really good food. I've always had pasta - last time it was a linguine with roasted peppers - fresh, simple, and flavorful. Good service too!

This place is North Miami's best kept secret. Casa Mia is my go-to place for a great, authentic Italian meal. I have taken out of town friends from New York to Los Angeles to this restaurant and it is always a winner, never a disappointment. Paolo and his staff make you feel like family. Many of the ingredients are flown in from Italy and it shows in the extraordinary dishes. I have been coming here since they opened and it only gets better! Consistently good food after all these years is a testament to this establishment's commitment to great Italian fare. . You don't get Italian food this good everyday in Miami. Casa Mia is well worth the drive!

Food is great at this place... I've inly done take out. My 5 year old and my wife both love it too. The pears in pasta purses... Don't ask, just eat it! It's amazing. The lasagna is made with old-school Italian gravy. Again a must-have item. The people are nice there, ordering is easy, parking to grab your food is a breeze. And of course each time I go I keep telling myself I need to come in and sit down because the place just looks friendly and inviting.

I had one of the most spectacular Italian dishes in my life last night at Casa Mia Trattoria. When in North Miami, eat here and order the Fagottini (no joke, that's the real name of the pasta) purses stuffed with pears and cheese in a vodka sauce. It's OUTTA CONTROL. The calamari are fried to perfection and the spaghetti bolognese is also ridiculously good. This is place is solid and the prices are great, too. It's the quitessential cozy, Italian resto.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
